From the President
Such an exciting couple of weeks for the Rotary Club of Kenmore! This past meeting we had Marketa, our Rotary International Youth Exchange Student, speak. Marketa provided an entertaining talk highlighting her home country of the Czech Republic, her family, school and mountain town where she lives. Very informative and entertaining for all! For those that missed the talk, connect with Marketa an upcoming meeting and ask her about the school subjects on offer at her high school – so many choices!

I want to extend a note of thanks to Jenn for championing the DV bench installation and for all those that attended the unveiling and took a moment of recognition and contemplation. Although I could not attend, I have taken an opportunity to use the bench, and I believe it is an important addition to the park. Continuing the DV theme, many members had a tour of the Pink Door initiative that our Club has been supporting since inception. In speaking to members who attended, it was noted as a great opportunity to directly witness the lasting impact our Club is having in the DV space – thank you all for this effort!

Our annual Christmas Raffle is nearly upon us! I encourage everyone to sign-up for shifts across all weekends. If everyone commits to covering 3 shifts, we will easily meet the need. This year the draw will happen at the Brookfield Bush Christmas on Friday December 11, 2026. So please plan to attend for what will be a very exciting evening of fellowship and fun for our community.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the next Tuesday week's meeting where we will continue our committee work.

Yours in Rotary

JP

Martin and Mary: Today’s DV Committee meeting was attended by Vanessa Fowler, Allison Baden-Clay’s sister. She spoke at length about issues pertaining to the current situation with DFV. She brought some “wheel” cards with information about abusive relationships on one side, and equal relationships on the other. These cards appear in the Link below and will continue to do so in the next few issues of the “Kog”
